Become a Sponsor for Our Webinar Series!

We offer these webinars as a free educational opportunity for our NEARI Press customers and those who care deeply about this work. However, we would not be able to do this important work without our sponsors and donors.

As a small non-profit organization, we rely on subscribers to help support our webinar work. Please consider becoming a sponsor of NEARI Press and Training Center's exciting new 2017-2018 webinar series. For those who can support us through a subscription, we will send you two of NEARI Press's popular titles:  Current Applications and Current Perspectives (other titles if you have subscribed last year!) with a value of $149 and we guarantee a seat at each webinar for the 2017-2018 season. A great deal! Sponsorship is $98 for individuals and $250 for organizations.  If you regularly attend please consider becoming a sponsor. Please contact Diane Langelier at 413.540.0712 x14 or at for more information or to sign up.

Description:

This webinar will offer a presentation on human sexuality and psychosexual development, and explore how professionals can integrate this material into efforts with families and communities to promote sexual health and safety and prevent child sexual abuse.  Built around two foundational beliefs that 1)   human sexuality components are woefully lacking in many child sexual abuse prevention initiatives, and 2) parents play a critical role in promoting the sexual health and safety of their children, in their home and in the community. This webinar will provide information and resources for professionals to apply to their work.

Supporting Families of Children and Adolescents with Problematic Sexual Behavior

E-mail Print

Presenters: Jane F. Silovsky, PhD; Licensed Clinical Psychologist

and Jimmy Widdifield, Jr, MA, Licensed Professional Counselor
Date: November 17, 2015
Time: 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM EST
Host: Joan Tabachnick
Technical Advisor: Greg Day

This webinar offers one Continuing Education Credit for Social Workers and Psychologists.

Description:

More than one-third of sexual offenses against children are committed by other youth. When youth engage in problematic sexual behaviors (PSB), they typically do so with other children in their family or extended social networks.  Families are often bereft of what to do when PSB occur within the family and how to address safety and the treatment needs of all the children, as are professionals across systems who may be mired in misconceptions. While evidence-based practices (EBP) exist to address PSB, most communities either do not have access to or are faced with many challenges to implement EBP and to provide comprehensive services to families.

This webinar will provide professionals working with youth with PSB research-based background information on this population and strategies to promote provision of comprehensive services to these youth, child victims, and their families in a way that preserves the family and promotes effective healing.
